2022/2023 Coaching Clinic Updates!

Hold the date for BC Hockey Specialty Coaching Clinics for Skating and Skills on August 27th and August 28th 2022.  The sessions are approximately 8 hours long with 6-7 hours of in-class instruction and 1 hour of on-ice instruction.   The AFHA will reimburse AFHA coaches that complete the clinics and that confirm they are coaching with the AFHA, or support our teams as an on-ice helper.

Please note that these dates are tentative at this time.  The clinic requests have been submitted for the AFHA to host these clinics and we are waiting for BC Hockey staff to coordinate instructors for the sessions.  Once we receive confirmation from BC Hockey, we will update the AFHA website.  Please stay tuned.  The Clinics will not be limited to AFHA coaches, so please look out for changes to our information on our website or on the BC Hockey/Hockey Canada clinic registration site.

We are also looking to coordinate two more sessions (with different focus) in September as well and will update this page when more information on dates and clinic details are available.

Coaching In The AFHA

The AFHA is a volunteer driven organization that relies on its volunteers for successful operation. As such the need for parent volunteers is extremely important and the AFHA will support all certifications and training required for parents to become confident leaders on the ice.  The AFHA working with BC Hockey will identify coaching certification opportunities and will look to host training sessions for our parents and coaches.  Parents interested in working with our players on the ice can do so in a Head Coach, Assistant Coach or On-ice Helper role.

  2. Respect in Sport : Cost: $30 (please keep receipts and submit to the team manager)
  3. Concussion Awareness Certification (CATT)

For Hockey Canada members wishing to become trained in Coach 1 or Coach 2 their first stop should be the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR)
